HIM ERA CLUB. Official Opening. Some 200 guests and members attended at the Hinuera Tennis Club’s courts on Saturday 7 to do honour to that club’s official opening. The weather v 7 as glorious, and everything went off smoothly, and a most enjoyable day as well as a memorable one was spent. Mr. Settle (chairman of the committee), after a few introductory remarks, called on Mr. C. S. Green (president of the club) to open the pavilion and courts. Mr. Green commented on the good work that had been done by committee and members, and after appropriate remarks called on Miss H. Green to play the first ball, thus officially opening the season. Visitors were present from Auckland, Hamilton. Matamata, Okoroire, Taihoa, Tirau and Te Poi, and some very fine tennis was yvitnessed.

The opening proved a record one for the club, and judging from the enthusiasm shown a very prosperous year is assured. During Mr. Green’s speech he called upon Miss Oates and Mr. E. Green to come forward and receive the club’s ladder competition medals for the top lady and man. A Working bee was held o*n the courts on Tuesday, and a considerable amount of work was done with a view to getting the site ready for the new concrete court. It Is very rarely that working bees prove such a success that all that is aimed at is accomplished, but sucli proved the case last Tuesday.
