DAIRY FACTORY SUPPLES.

SEPTEMBER’S INCREASE. At Morrinsville and Matamata. It appears to go on like a game. When the prices rise there is usually a bad season; when production increases enormously, Tooley street crushes all hopes the farmers have of becoming rich. This is what has happened this season. The dairy factory returns in respect of the four small co-operative dairy companies in the Morrinsville and Matamata districts show that increased amounts of butter-fat have been received during September, as compared with the same month last year and yet the cheques of the individual suppliers are smaller than last season’s, owing to the advances this year being between 2d and 4d per lb lower. The Tatua company’s -suppliers increased up to September 30 by about 20 per cent, despite the fact that there are two less farmers supplying the factory. Morrinsville’s increase up to September 30 was 31.4 per cent and up to October 30, 46 per cent. The Norfolk Co. had less milk supplied to it but on account of the test during September of this year being much higher than during a similar month last year, the total butter-fat shows an increase. The Sunny Park Co. also records increased supplies. The following are the figures from the four factories for the month of September, those for a similar period last year being given in theses:—MORRINSVILLE.
