GRASS GRUB.

Ravages in Taranaki. Grass grub has done a lot of havoc on the pastures in some parts of the district, and its ravages have really been serious. The general remedy is stocking heavily and feeding out in the paddocks. A settler of the district recalled the other day an incident of some years ago which is strong proof of the efficacy of this treatment. He says that on one paddock of his father’s farm there was a lot of the grub, and on that, on a day when some stock were to be sold, the stock were collected. It was a damp day, he recalls, and the drovers rounding up the stock made the paddock look like a sea of mud. However, the result was marvellous and absolutely cured the ravages of the grub.—Hawera Star.
