BUTTERMILK SEPARATION.

EXPERIMENTS AT MORRINSVILLE. During the slack period, experiments were being' carried out at the Morrinsville Co-operative Dairy Company’s factory by the manager (Mr. A. M. Stirling) in an endeavour to separate the butterfat which under ordinary circumstances is lost in the buttermilk. Although the desired result has not yet been obtained, quite a distinct step forward has been made. In the past, the separator, which has been made specially for the purpose, would not run for more than 15 minutes without becoming choked with slime. Mr. .Stirling is now able to keep the machine going for two hours before it becomes choked. The experiments have been discontinued till the end of the season.
