CATHOLIC SOCIAL.

A very successful social was held at Arapuni in aid of the local Roman Catholic Church on Friday night. Most people had recovered from the influenza epidemic and were looking forward to a very enjoyable evening. In this they were not disappointed, thanks to an energetic band of organisers. The hall had been prettily decorated with gum and wattle boughs, with Chinese lanterns swung across the room. During the evening a “ black and ■white ” ballet was performed by the pupils of Miss A. Donnelly, the soloist being Miss A. Donnelly. The balloon dance attracted many competitors and was eventually won by Mr. Martin Hjorth and partner. A beautiful “ bride ” doll was won by Mr. Nobili, while Miss Henderson was the fortunate winner of another prize. Mr*. Lindsay carried off two fluffy dolls by guessing their names. The orchestra as usual rendered a sterling performance.
