WAOTU TIMBER COMPANY.

ROYALTIES FOR ROADS. Cr. E. J. Darby reported to the Matamata County Council at the meeting last Friday that with the engineer he had negoitiated with the Waotu Timber Company with reference to their contribution of royalty, on timber transported, towards the upkeep of the Waotu road. An agreement, which would be operative until March SI next, had been come to whereby the company would contribute a lump sum of £IOO before next Christmas, and further, that all carting would be done under the supervision of the county engineer. The company further agreed that all carting to Arapuni be limited to the i Waotu road via the new deviation through Lawcock’s property, which road was to be maintained to the satisfaction of the engineer. The agreement as outlined was confirmed by the council.
