A member of the Nelson Farmers’ Union executive committee gave it as his opinion at the last meeting that it would nay the Government to put men on soldiers’ abandoned farms rent free rather than let the land remain idle and become overgrown with noxious weeds. Some of the abandoned farms he knew of would take particularly good farming to make them pay, even if rents were remitted.
