MEAT AND DAIRY BOARDS.
FARMERS’ UNION OPINION. At the provincial conference of the New Zealand Farmers’ Union in Auckland last week matters in connection with the Dairy Produce Export Control Board and the Meat Producers Board were discussed. Full control of dairy produce by the board Avas emphatically voted by all present, but the single-Avard system, with voting on export tonnage by dairy company directors, did not have quite such a good/ run, though it was tarried. , The Bay of Islands came forward Avith a novel proposal that voting for the Dairy Control Board should be single ward, suppliers voting, the ac-
tual export tonnage to be allocated according to .the recorded vote. This received some support, but the danger of any present interference in Anew of what was termed the insidious and) powerfully - dangerous influences a.fc work was emphasised. It was considered there would be plenty of time later to fix voting suitably. ELECTION OF MEAT BOARD. A resolution ,to include all stock owners as electors for the Meat Board was AA’ithclraAvn on Mr. Harding showing that both boards would then be elected by dairymen. The hoped-for export of pork could be handled to shipment by the Dairy Board and further machinery for effective cooperation erected when necessary.
