An innovation introduced at this year’s “ Alfalfa ” sale was Mr. Saxby’s decision to catalogue yearling bull calves from females bought at his previous sales. These young bulls, which were offered on behalf of various owners, occasioned good competition, hut in a number of cases they failed to reach the fairlysubstantial reserves placed upon them. In one case a bull calf, Poneke Daisy Piko (Waipiko Masterpiece— Twylish Daisy), went to 150gns, but as the reserve placed upon him by his owrfer, Mr. C. S.
