PARKING CARS.

PUTARURU TROUBLES. At the last meeting of the Putaruru Chamber of Commerce, Mr. G. Nickle referred to the d'anger resuming throug*h a heavy motor lorry be ing parked every night on one of the roads in the township. The vehicle was left right in the centre of the road, and it was impossible 1 j get past on either side. Mr. Darby : That's nothing. I notice right alongside the chamber there is a car parked on the footpath. (Laughter). The chairman: There is an old saying that if you g*ive a man enough rope he will hang himself. Someone will meet with an accident one of these nights and there will be a claim f'OT damages. Mr. Nickle: But that’s no good to the man who meets with the accident. (Laughter). Further discussion took place during which it was mentioned that several car-owners were in the habit of .running their cars on the metalled roads with chains on. Eventually the matter was allowed to drop, Mr. Darby undertaking* to see what he could do in regard to the question raised.
