The population of Te Aroha at this year’s census is 2274, an increase of 84 on the 1921 census. The census figures for the Waihou riding of the Piako County Council show a total of 1626 (including 27 Maoris). ''The population at the previous census was 1392. A proposal to organise an export bacon business was put forward at a meeting of Mangateparu suppliers of the Morrinsville Co-op. Dairy Co. on Wednesday. The scheme suggested was on the lines of that adopted by the Manawatu Dairy Co. It was shown, from figures given, that this had been a good thing for the Manawatu farmers. It was decided to request the directors of the company to endeavour to formulate a similar scheme.
