ANZAC SERVICE IN ARAPUNI.
AT ANGLICAN CHURCH. On Sunday evening an Anzac service was held in the Anglican Church, Arapuni, and the seating capacity of the little church was taxed to the utmost, approximately 90 people being present. The music for the evening was rendered by Messrs. Perrins (organ), Graham (violin) and Edwards (cornet) proving a beautiful combination. The Rev. Ward, of Putaruru, conducted the service and he said that he whs pleased that St. Mark’s Day and Anzac Day fell together. The former would be remembered as long as the church remained ; the latter as long as our Empire lasted. He said that the history of other great nations such ! as Babylon, Egypt, Rome and Greece , had been referred to and that it had been predicted the British Empire would likewise decline. He pointed out that it was only by the people of the Empire remaining true to God could they keep this great Empire together, and he entreated them to keep before them the high ideals shown by the men who fell at Gallipoli and by this means show their true remembrance of Anzac Day.
