STOCK SALES.
MATAMATA. Dalgety and Co. held a particularlylarge sale at Matamata on Wednesday, when no less than 170 store steers were yarded. The whole of the line sold well. Prices for sheep and store pigs also showed an improvement on recent sales. Prices were:— Fat cows £5 5s to £6 10s, forward cows £3 to £4 ss, store cows 20s to 40s, 43-year steers £8 10s, 33-year Shorthorn steers £7 5s to £7 10s, Hereford steers £7 7s 6d, Polled Angus steers £6 10s to £7, 21-year to 3-year Shorthorn steers £5 10s to £5 16s, 18-months Shorthorn steers £3 15s, bulls £2 10s to £3 10s, steer calves to 355. Sheep.—Fat ewes 16s Id to 16s 9d, black-faced store lambs 13s 3d, woolly store lambs 13s 9d, shorn store lambs 9s sd, store ewes 7s. Pigs.—Slips 11s to 15s, large stores 29s to 335. S MORRINSVILLE. At Dalgety and Co.’s Morrinsville sale on Thursday there was a failyarding. The prices for beef cattle were most satisfactory. The prices are : Fat cows £4 10s to £6 15s, stores £1 10s to £3 ; in-calf heifers £3 10s to £5 4s ; heifer calves 19s to 325. Sheep : Fat ewes 18s, lambs £l. Pigs : Weaners 15s, stores 28s. MORRINSVILLE. There was a large yarding- of cattle at the Farmers’ Auctioneering- Co.’s stock sale at Morrinsville on Friday. The beef prices appeared to be a little brighter but the young stock was dull of sale, the best offer for calves being- 375. There were very few dairy cattle offered and none was sold under the hammer. There was a fair yarding of sheep. There was again a medium yarding of pigs, there being little alteration in the values. The prices are:— Beef.—Fat bullocks £9 12s 6d to £lO 15s, light but good quality £8 ; prime fat heifers £5 11s to £6 Is ; prime heavy cows £9 to £9 ss, fat cows £5 15s to £7 ss, good-conditioned stores £4 5s to £5 ss, fresh-conditioned £3 to £3 18s, stores £2 to £2 18s, boners 15s to 30s ; bulls £3 to £5-. Young Stock.—ln-calf Jersey heifers £1 17s 6d to £4 ; yearling Jersey heifers 25s to 375, others 15s to £1 ; yearling Shorthorn steer calves £1 to 275. Sheep.—Wethers 2Ss Id ; fat ewes 20s 6d to 21s ; fat lambs 19s to 22s ; good store lambs 15s lOd to 18s 7d, smaller 9s to 11s, culls 5s 6d.
