ACCLIMATISATION SOCIETY.
AT MORRINSVILLE. A New Branch Formed. A meeting of sportsmen, convened by Mr. B. U. Barlow, of Motumaoho, was held at Morrinsville on Wednesday evening for the purpose of forming a branch of the Auckland A-cclimatisation Society. About 15 were present. lit was decided to form a branch of the Auckland society and the following officers were elected : President, Mr. H. Clifford ; vice-president, Mr. S. Bain ; secretary and treasurer,- Mr. B. U. Barlow ; committee, Messrs. F. J. Marshall, J. Slater, F. Washbourne, W. G. Warren, G. Bateman and P. Petrie. It was stated that there would be about 40 members in the Morrinsville branch with the prospect of securing a large number more. Arrangements were made for the liberation of 20 young pheasants at Tauhei and Tahuna, while 5000 trout fry had been liberated this summer in the Piakonui and Topehahae streams. It was decided to meet every month.
