STOCK SALES.
MORRINSVILLE. For this time of the year the Farmers’ Auctioneering- Co.’s fortnightly stock sale at Morrinsville on Friday can be considered to be a large one. There were not many fat bullocks penned, but there was a fair number of cows, and a large yarding of young stock. Pigs were also penned in large numbers, while sheep were in increased numbers. As was to be expected, very few dairy cattle were offered.' ■ The prices generally showed a slight upward tendency. Some very heavy fat cows sold particularly well, the top price being £lO. The market for young stock, was good, a pen of choice yearling- Jersey heifers on account of Mr. J. Goodwin reaching 4gns. Pigs Sold well, there being a slight, yet marked, increase over the last Morrinsville prices realised by this company. This was most noticeable among the fat pigs, heavy baconers going up to £4 2s. The prices are:— Beef: Fat bullocks, £lO to £l2; extra heavy cows £8 to £lO, lighter £5 17s 6d to £7 10s, light and unfinished £4 10s to £5 14, fresh-conditioned £3 17s 6d to £4 7s 6d, stores £1 to £2; heavy bulls £6 to £7 ss, others £1 17s 6d to £5 10s. Young stock: Choice yearling Jersey heifers 4 4s, others £2 4s to £3; good Shorthorn steer calves £2 7s to £3 2s 6d. Dairy cattle: Jersey cross heifers, £6 5s to £7 15s; cows, £2 17s 6d to £4 15s. Sheep: Fat wethers 29s to 30s 9d; fat ewes 20s to 23s 9d, small 2-tooth wethers 21s; good woolly lambs 16s; woolly store lambs 10s 9d to 14s; 4tooth to full-mouthed ewes, 22s 3d; cull ewes, 8s to 10s. Pigs: Heavy baconers £4 to £4 2s, light and medium £3 Is to £3 8s; porkers £2 12s to £3; choppers £3 5s to £3 15s; well-grown stores £2 to £2 Bs, good stores 34s to 38s; slips 26s to 325; good weanei-s 17s 6d to 245, smaller 6s to 12s. MATAMATA. Dalgety and Co. held their regular stock sale at Matamata on Wednesday, when the following prices ruled : Cattle.—Fat cows £5 to £6 ss, fat heifers £4 5s to £5 ss, store cows £3 7s to £4, poor store cows £1 to 325, potting bulls £3 5s to £5 10s, in-calf heifers (Holstein) £2 7s 6d, Jersey cross £2 7s 6d to £2 10s, calves £1 to 375. Sheep.—F.M. store ewes 16s, fullmouthed ewes 10s 3d, woolly store lambs 14s 8d to 16s 3d, store lambs 8s to 10s 4d. Pigs.—Store porkers £2 Is, good stores 35s to 38s, medium stores 29s to 335, good slips 22s to 265, wearers 14s to 18s, others 12s to 13s. HAMILTON. At the Farmers’ Auctioneering Co.’s Frankton sale on Tuesday there was a fair yarding of beef, sheep and fat pigs. Prices for beef, mutton and heavy bacon pigs were firmer, while all classes of store sheep sold well up to late rates. Beef.—Medium-weight prime steers £ll 12s 6d to £l2 19s, prime cows £8 9s to £8 19s, lighter £7 11s to, £7 14s, medium weights £5 10s to £6 14s, light cows £4 5s to £5, fresh-conditioned cows £3 10s to £4, smaller frames £2 15s to £3 2s 6d, store cows 35s to £2 7s, 31-year store steers to £8 os. A line of pedigree Ayrshire cattle was cleared, averaging lOlg-ns. Sheep. Forward two-tooth and four-tooth wethers 255, prime fat ewes 23s 4d, small two-tooth wethers 19s Od, medium two-tooth ewes 20s 6d to 22s 6d, four-year and five-year breeding ewes 19s 3d to 235, medium four-tooth and six-tooth ewes 265, forward b.f. rape lambs 16s to 17s 6d, medium woolly lambs 12s 4d to 12s 6d, medium shorn 11s to 11s sd, cull lambs 7s 6d to 9s 6d, cull ewes 7s 6d. Pigs.—Heavy baconers £3 17s to £4 (js, lighter £3 10s to £3 15s, medium £3 3s to £3 Ss, good porkers £2 15s to £3, light to medium £2 5s to £2 12s, small well done 38s to £2 2s, stores 32s to 345, weaners- 11s to 13s, slips 16s to 225.
