WAIKATO EAST SUBASSOCIATION. (Notes by Service). The inter-club matches are now nearing completion. In the A grade competition for the Joseph Keane Banner in the southern division the Putaruru club are the winners and will most likely have to meet the Matamata club’s team for the championship of the Waikato East Association. In the B grade fixtures for the McMillan Cup in the northern division Okoroire are the winners with four wins and no losses and this club will play the winner of the southern division, which is not yet decided. The Matamata team is the winner of the C grade in the northern division and will most likely have to play off with the Selwyn club in the final. Wright, Sole and Thompson, of the Putaruru club, the latter, playing with Miss Payton, winning the combined doubles championship event. In the Waikato Banner competition the Waikato East team will shortly play the semi-final against the Waikare association team, probably at Hamilton, and’ great interest centres in the match as the winning team will reach the final for the banner.
