ORGANISING IMMIGRANTS.
Not only is it increasingly repugnant to sentiment, both in this, country and overseas, that British settlers should be encouraged to leave this country and go to other parts of the Empire, unless adequate arrangements are made for supervising and assisting them so far as is necessary to put them on the path of success, but the waste of effort and human material involved in the absence of proper organisation is more clearly realised. There is need for much C'losr co-ope-ration and direct contact between all the Governments and other authorities who are concerned in promoting and facilitating Empire Settlement. All the organisations employed in recruiting settlers in this country, in receiving, placing, supervising them overseas, and dealing with their aftercare. appear to require stveng' nening, and to need constant and continuous supervision by each Government concerned.—Overseas Settlement Commit-
