STOCK SALES.
CLEARING SALE—MR. W. F. WALTON. A clearing' sale was conducted at Walton on Monday by the Farmers’ Auctioneering Co., on behalf of the vendor, Mr. W. F. Walton. There was a splendid attendance of buyers, and bidding was very brisk. The largest purchasers were Messrs. Henderson Bros., of Washam Downs, who bought a truck of Jersey heifers, for one of which they paid the top price, namely, £lO 10s. Prices were: Best cows (in milk), £7 10s 6d to £lO 7s 6d; other sorts, £5 to £7 10s; backward springers, £7; fat cows, £6 os; store cows, Ji3 10s to £5; heifers, £9 10s to £9 2-year-old empty heifers, £3 ss; yearling Shorthorn heifers, £1 18s. A line of calves sold at late rates. Pigs: Pedigree Berkshire boar, £6 6s; Berkshire sows, £2 10s to £3 10s. Horses: Light mare in foal, £l3; aged light gelding*, £7. PUTARURU. The monthly stock sale in the Putaruni yards was held on Friday by Messrs. Dalgety and Company, Ltd. There was a fairly full yarding of cattle, which, with the exception of a few dairy cows, sold at comparatively good prices as follow:—Fat bullocks, up to £10; fat cows, £5 6s to £6 10s; forward cows, £3 5s to £4 6s; store cows, £1 to £2 ss; cows with calves, £3 5s to £3 15s; two-year Hereford steers, £3 15s to £4 6s; two-year empty Hereford heifers, £3 6s; yearling to 18-months heifers, £1 10s to £1 18s; bulls, £3; yearling and 18montlis steers, £2 8s; bulls, £1 to £3. Pigs sold to a keen demand, stores bringing £1 18s to £2 6s and weaners £1 8s to £1 12s 6d. THE CHEESE MARKET. Messrs. Dalgety and Company, Ltd., are in receipt of the following cable from their head office, London, und date of the Ist instant: —Cheese: Since our last wire prices are Is higher. LONDON MARKET. The Bank of New Zealand has received the following cable from London under date November 28:— Butter.—Steady demand 208 s to 210 s per cwt. Second grade 184 sto 1945. Cheese.—Slow 90s per cwt, old season’s 92s to 945. Frozen Meat. The market for wethers is firm. The market for ewes quiet and unchanged. New Zealand lamb in short supply, prices nominal. Beef is dull owing to absence of demand. Wethers, light, 8d to 9Jd per pound; wethers, heavy, 7id to 8d; ewes, 6-kl to 7id; new season’s Australian lamb, 12Ad to 13£d; ox hinds, sld to 5Ad; ox fores, 4Ad to 43d.
