TOKOROA.

THE RABBIT BOARD. A meeting of the Tokoroa Rabbit Board was held some days ago. The members present were: Messrs. L. Hamilton (chairman), J. Campbell, J. E. West, D. Carr Rollett, and H. Cl el and (inspector). Wages accounts amounting to £l7O were passed for payment, this representing the cost of labour for the pollard poisoning during the past winter, the board’s first season. A lengthy discussion on the work done took place, members intimating that they thought it had proved fairly effective but it would be necessary to follow it during the summer by bi-sulphide poisoning over the grass land. Inspector Cleland was authorised to obtain two experienced men for this work. Mr. J. Price was appointed the board’s local inspector. It was resolved that a small amount of pollard poisoning remaining on the board’s hands be distributed to any landholders desiring to use it. Accounts for sundry items amounting to £3O were passsd for payment, in addition to the wages. At the close of the meeting, three stock inspectors, Messrs. McDonald (Rotorua), Morris (Cambridge) and Cleland (Matamata), conferred and arranged for concerted action to prevent noxious weeds, especially blackberry, from obtaining a serious hold in the Upper Waikato. THE PROGRESSIVE LEAGUE. A meeting of the Tokoroa Progress League was held in the Tokoroa Hall on Monday, when the following were present:—Messrs. J. Campbell, L. Hamilton, C. Lock, L. Newell, B. Williams, J. Price, D. Carr Rollett, J. H. Stringer, Cairns Bros., F. Flavall, J. R. Cocks, W. Harrington, L. McHale, E. J. McHale and T. Henderson. Mr. Lock was in the chair and explained that the meeting was for the purpose of electing new members to the board, a chairman and a secretary, etc. The balance-sheet showed that the board’s finances were in a satisfactory condition, the credit balance being £(5 6s 3d. The following members were elected as a board:—Messrs. West, Lock, Cairns, Campbell, Flavall, Hamilton and Williams, Mr. West being chairman and Mr. Lock secretary. A vote of thanks was passed to the retiring members and the meeting terminated.
