THE RIVER CROSSING.

COMPLETION OF THE BRIDGES. The bridge over the spillway channel at Arapuni is now practically ready for traffic, as is also the lowlevel bridge over the Waikato river, but there is a short length of the roadway between the two bridges incomplete. Through traffic by this route between Putaruru and Te Awamutu will almost certainly be possible by the middle of this month. The opening of this new outlet to Putaruru for country on the western side of the river is noted by landowners of the Maungatautari district as well as the Pukeatua settlers and others who already have road connection with it, and a movement from Maungatautari for the formation of a road from there to connect with this outlet too has already been very evident. Ultimately it is expected that this new crossing of the river will mean a big volume of traffic travelling to the railway at Putaruru.
