STOCK SALES.

PUTARURU. At Dalgety and Company’s stock sale in the Putaruru yards on Friday in-calf heifers were by far the biggest line offered, the yarding beingcompleted by a few pens of beef cattle, a few dairy cows and pigs and : sundries. Everything offered sold to a fairly keen demand. The best heifers realised from £6 15s to £B, medium quality £4 5s to £G, and backward £2 5s to £2 15s. Fat cows brought £4 15s, forward cows £3 17s, store cows £1 14s to £2 15s, and dairy cows up to £lO. Weaner pigs sold at 255, slips at 275, and larger stores at 375. MR. W. DELANEY’S HERD. There was a particularly large attendance at a clearing sale conducted by Dalgety and Company, Ltd., at Taihoa, near Matamata, for Mr. W. Delaney on Monday. Some of the cows offered were particularly choice ones, but others were backward, ancl these latter lowered what would otherwise have been a real good average. As it was, 26 cows averaged £8 17s 6d. Choice cows averaged from £9 to £l6 15s, the latter, a purebred Ayrshire, being- purchased by Mr. P. Beverley, of Peria. The largest buyers were Messrs. G. D. Smith and T. A. Kemp. Others to purchase were Messrs. Puckeridge Bros. (Te Poi), A. E. Connell (Hinuera), Hickey (Taihoa), J. Pohlen (Matamata) and H. S. Wright (Taihoa). The market for store heifers was easy, 15-months to 18-months heifers realising £2 12s 6d, and yearlings, in which were included several nice Jerseys, 355. Jersey bulls sold at £4 10s (two-year) and £3 5s (yearling). There was good bidding for farm horses, which sold at from £l2 to £23. Fowls realised from 3s 6d to 5s lOd per head. MATAMATA. The Farmers’ Auctioneering Company held its usual sale at Matamata on Wednesday. The yarding was a large one, fat and store cows and dairy heifers being well represented. There was a keen demand for pigs and yearling heifers, the latter especially realising- good prices. Dairy cattle of quality also were bid for in a spirited manner. Prices were:—Pigs: Best weaners, 25s to 295; others, 20s to 235; slips, 32s to 38s. Sheep: Fat maiden ewes (one pen), 365; fat ewes (one pen), 32s 6d. HORSE FAIR. The Farmers’ Auctioneering Co.’s horse-.frair at Morrinsville on Tuesday attracted a large number of buyers, before whom were offered over 150 draught horses and 70 hacks. Commencing- before 11 a.m. it was nearly 5 p.m .before the draughts were all disposed of, and darkness was threatening before hacks were all sold. On the wdiole bidding was not very spirited, but for the better class of horse very fair prices were paid, the top being £37, with several in the vicinity of £36 and £36 10s. Quite a number, however, especially towards the close of the sale were passed in at prices which did not give satisfaction to the owners. Among the unbroken horses prices ranged from £2l to £3O 10s, while an unbroken filly and a colt went for £2 and £4 respectively. Among the others, anything between 4-years-old and aged horses appeared" to sell the best. Aged horses ranged from £lO 10s to £2B, while for 3-year and 4year horses the prices were from £l9 to £3O 10s. The best of the other horses sold from £29 10s to £37, the remainder bringing- anything below £29 10s down to £lO. * Hacks sold up to £ls. MORRINSVILLE. There was a large yarding of most classes of stock at the Farmers’ Auctioneering Company’s stock sale at Morrinsville on Friday but prices generally showed a marked decline, exceptions being those for sheep, of which only a few were penned, and for prime fat cows. McLean, of Walton, reached £ll 11s. The dairy cattle prices were a little lower than usual. The yarding of pigs was not large and little improvement was noticed in values.
