Mr. T. J. Underwood was on Saturday night appointed secretary of the Matamata Racing Club. Mr. T. Martin, late of the Lyric and Grand Theatres, Rotorua, has been appointed manager of the Morrinsville Picture Theatre. The matinee performance of the children’s operetta, “ Red Riding Hood,” in the Town Hall on Saturday afternoon gave much pleasure to those attending and will result in a further sum for the Church of England funds, Putaruru. The obstinacy of some Government officials in failing to recognise the value of certain suggestions put to them was commented on at Monday’s meeting at Morrinsville of the Auckland Provincial Dairy Companies’ Association. “It takes some time,” remarked a member, “ for a Government official to alter his point of view.”
