NORFOLK DAIRY COMPANY.

THE ANNUAL REPORT. Record Supplies. The annual report to be submitted to the annual meeting of the Norfolk Co-op. Dairy Co. is as follows: “ The butter-fat for the season shows an increase of 11,5331 b on the previous season and the amount of cheese made was 442 tons Bcwt lqr 11 lb. At the beginning and end of the season separating was carried on for a time. The season has been a record one for butter-fat received and cheese made. The average payment for the season was Is 4.624 d, and a further penny per pound butter-fat will be paid at an early date. It is also anticipated that an additional bonus will be paid when the final figures for the year’s sales come to hand. The balance available for distribution is equal to 1.259 d per pound of butter-fat, and as our estimates are considered to be on the safe side this figure may be increased. During the slump in the London market the company held a considerable quantity of cheese in store, and the result shows that this policy was fully warranted. “ The old factory was dismantled towards the end of the season and a new one erected, and at the date of this report we have commenced the manufacture of cheese. The directors have endeavoured to make the new factory as up-to-date as possible, and at the same time it has been built at a reasonable cost.

“ The directors recommend the payment of a dividend of five per cent on the amount paid up on shares at 30th June, 1923, and to transfer £IOO to Building Reserve Account.” The season’s summary gives the following figures:—9,Bls,777lb of milk received; 4.04 average test; 9,423,619lb milk used for clieesemaking; 46191 b cream received; 398,415.41 b total but-ter-fat; 372,393.11 b butter-fat used for cheesemaking; 26,022.31 b butter-fat in cream sold; 21,748.751 b butter-fat in whey cream; 5.84 per cent of butterfat in whey cream to butter-fat used for cheesemaking; 9.50921 b milk to make lib of cheese; 2.66121 b cheese made from lib of butter-fat; 991,0155lb cheese made (factory weight), 442 tons Bcwt lqr 111 b; 3.8995 pence costs to f.o.b. per lb butter-fat; 1553 cows milk supplied to factory; 256.541 b butter-fat average per cow for season.
