THE KNOCK-OUT COMPETITION. No Match Eventuates. The final in the Putaruru Rugby Union’s kncck-out competition for the Amopiu Cup, went by default on Saturday, United failing to muster a team against Selwyn. It is anticipated that the schools’ competition, which has been in abeyance during the past fortnight, owing to the school holidays, will be concluded next Saturday. MANAGEMENT COMMITTEE. Last week’s meeting of the management committee of the Putaruru Rugby Union lapsed for want of a quorum, only four members attending, namely, Messrs. J. Barr Brown (chairman), N. H. Ashford (secretary), Francis (Selwyn) and G. E. Martin (United). The chairman, with the concurrence of the other members, instructed the secretary to convene a meeting of all the clubs and football enthusiasts for this week to arrange the annual presentation social.

The secretary stated that he had received a letter from the Hamilton union fixing Saturday, September 27, as the date for Selwyn’s match at Hamilton for the Binnie Cup. THE AMOPIU CUP. The Amopiu Cup is stated to be a of very handsome design in silver, mounted on an ebony stand, the whole being some 14 inches high. REPRESENTATIVE MATCHES. Auckland 9, Wellington 8.
