CONTROL BOARD’S ACTIVITIES
INFORMATION WANTED. “ Most Extraordinary Thing.” That details of the Dairy Produce Control Board’s activities should be made known to the various dairy companies has been advocated by the Morrinsville Co-op. Dairy Co., but so far without results. The matter was again raised at the annual meeting of the company on Friday, when it was decided to take further steps to have copies of the minutes of the board’s meetings sent to all the dairy companies. It was stated that the Control Board levy on the company would be £260 upon 3rd per lb butter. Mr. McCausland said that the company had asked the Control Board if the board could supply companies with full reports of the workings of the hoard, the board replying that the companies would have to be content with the press reports. An endeavour was being made, however, to bring the matter up in the House, and M.’sP. had been communicated with. Mr. Seifert considered it a most extraordinary thing that a body to which they contributed should refuse to supply information. He moved that the company again request the Control Board to supply minutes of their meetings to each of the dairy companies. He also said that not only had the company taken the matter up but also the Farmers’ Union, and a remit had been carried at a provincial conference similar to the company’s request. “ But,” he added,
“ like all these remits we have heard nothing more about it.” Mr. McCausland seconded the motion, which was carried unanimously.
