WAIKATO MARKET REPORT. The Farmers’ Auctioneering Co. report under date August 11: “ Beef: There is no rise in prices since our last report; sufficient prime steer and cow beef coming forward to meet the local requirements with
prices firm. “ Mutton: The market is firm for prime ewe and wether mutton with a tendency of prices hardening for this class; a good deal of unfinished coming on the market for which there is not a great enquiry. “ Store Sheep: The yardings have been small with prices firm and a good demand for all classes, hoggets being especially sought after. “ Store Cattle: There is a good enquiry for two and 3-year steers, also good yearlings, but practically nothing coming on the market owing no i doubt to the low prices ruling. The j yardings consist principally of store 1 cows and yearling heifers for which there is little demand. “ Dairy Cattle: There is quite a good demand for any tested cows or good herds; also for the best heifers, but little demand for the inferior class which is coming forward in large numbers. “ Pigs: The market continues very firm for fat pigs, the supply not being sufficient for the demand and j yardings at the different centres being very small. Stores are plentiful, the high prices ruling bringing them forward and finding buyers at good prices. “ Horses: Good sales have been taking place both at auction and in the paddocks, for heavy draughts, good farm and spring cart sorts with little demand tor the light classes. “ We quote:— “Bullocks, prime heavy £l2 10s to 10s ’ m «Uum £S 10s to £lO 10s; cows Pnme £0 10s to £7 7s, medium £4 10s to £4 15s, unfinished £3 to £3 os, stores 15s to 255.
