i P. AND T. DANCE. The P. and T. dance, held at Waliaroa on Thursday last, was a decided success, about fifty /ouples participating. Music by the Misses Kirks’ orchestra waT exceptionally good, the music being rendered in their usual finished style and encores were the order of the evening. Extras were ably supplied by Mrs. W. Wright, Misses Bryce (2) and Searle. Mr. J. W. Portland, junr., made an efficient M.C., whilst particular credit belongs to Mrs. Wright, of Putaruru, for the delicious supper she provided. A feature of the evening was the “ lucky spot ” waltz, the fortunate couple being Miss Vera Finnerty (box handkerchiefs) and Mr. H. Scatchard (Bairnsf ather shaving outfit). In presenting the prizes, Mr. J. F. Burrows conveyed the thanks of the committee to those present for their attendance, and to the performers and Mr. Monk for assistance rendered. The floor was in good order, and dancing continued till the wee sma’ hours ended a happy evening. A PICTURE NIGHT.
A picture night in aid of the funds of the Y.M.C.A. orchestra was given before a crowded house in the Waharoa Public Hall on Tuesday evening. The picture shown—a very finely executed English film-—was entitled “ A Yankee at the Court of King Arthur.” It purported to be a screen representation of Mark Twain’s celebrated work. At the interval vocal items were rendered by Messrs. P. Ney, J. Walker, and T. Walker. All were encored. The Y.M.C.A. orchestra accompanied as well as playing throughout the film. As a result of the evening the orchestra will benefit materially.
