MANUFACTURE OF BUTTER.

THE ROTORUA COMPANY. A meeting of some 12 suppliers and prospective suppliers to the Rotorua Co-operative Daily Company was held at Mr. J. Worth’s farm, Arapuni road, Putaruru, on Saturday afternoon. Mr. A. R. Vosper presided. Mr. T. P. Dowling, chairman of the company, stated that there would still be a further payment by it for butterfat- received during the past season. The company was willing to take cream supplies from the Putaruru district for its model factory at Ngongotaha. It would pay cartage to the Putaruru station and railage. It did not expect suppliers in this district to take up shares, as it recognised that sooner or later they would have a factory of their own at Putaruru. However, it wanted their supply to help reduce its working costs to a minimum and the suppliers ■ would get equal benefits with the shareholders. The company was informed by the manager of the Bank of New Zealand at Rotorua that its financial position was one of the most favourable of any dairy company in the Dominion, and the directors considered the company’s prospects for total payout, etc., in the forthcoming- season second to .none. Several questions were asked and answered. In reply to Mr. Milner, Mr. Dowling said that if secondgrade cream was received the supplier would be warned before beingpenalised by a deduction of Id per pound butterfat—not 2d in any case.
