ROCKY DOWNS v. PUTARURU. The return match between the Rocky Downs and Putaruru clubs was played on the Peria links and resulted in a win for the Rocky Downs by nineteen games to nil, two other games being halved. A glaring sun was somewhat against the play in the morning, but later ideal weather conditions prevailed and some good golf was played. The visitors were short of one or two of their best players, but generally the games were keenly contested and close. Upon their arrival the Putaruru players, accompanied by their opponents, were entertained to a sit down lunch by
the ladies of the Rocky Downs club, and later in the day to afternoon tea. After the results had been announced, Mr. J. Rolfe thanked the Rocky Downs club for its hospitality and for the splendid day. He especially referred to the elforts of the ladeis, and called for cheers for them. Mr. H. Moore-Jones, president of the home club, responded, stating how much they enjoyed the games with Putaruru, and commenting on the sporting spirit of the team. He trusted that they would' meet often.
