THE PUTARURU SCHOOL.
MEETING OF THE COMMITTEE. This month’s meeting of the Putaruru School Committee was attended by Messrs. F. C. Barnett (chairman), H. C. Wheeler (secretary), N. H. Ashford, C. H. Woodgate, E. Nicklin and H. J. W. Scott. Mr. T. F. Valentine wrote that the tall trees in the school ground bordering on his property darkened his premises, 'the consequent bad light causing inconvenience. An offer by the headmaster, Mr. J. Gasparich, to top the trees was accepted. The committee confirmed the appointment of Mr. Barnett as a delegate representing the Putaruru School Footbal Club on the- Putaruru Schools’ Rugby Union. A copy of Mr. L. M. Isitt’s Bible-in-Schools Bill was received. Some discussion ensued, bur no motion on the matter was put forward. Acknowledganent of the receipt of the committee’s letter advocating the substitution of the average roll of the schools for the average attendance as the basis of calculations for staffing, etc., was received from Mr. F. F. Hockly, M.P., for the districtwho added that the subject would have his careful attention when such matters come up for consideration in Parliament.
