POWER BOARD CHARGES.
PROTEST AT WAITOA. To Increased Flat Rate. The increase in the charge for electricity recently made by the Thames Valley Power Board to farmers who do net use electrical power for milking machines was the subject of discussion at the meeting of the Waitoa Progressive League meetingheld on May 29th ult. It was stated by several residents that the recent increase of 50 per cent on previous flat-rate charges for electricity was felt to be quite a burden, and after this matter had been discussed at great length it was decided that three members be appointedl to ..interview the resident consumers in their respective localities with a view to obtaining the names of persons who favoured the installing of meters in their dwellings in lieu of continuing on the fiatrate. If, after such procedure, it was deemed advisable, the League would forward an application to the Thames Valley Electric Power Board asking them to instal meters at the places named.—News.
