PIONEERS OF ELECTRIC POWER
A DEBT OF GRATITUDE. Due to ’names Valley Board. During the course of remarks at • lie annual meeting of the Thames valley Electric Power Board held at Te Arolia last week the chairman Mr. F. H. Claxtor., slated that recently the engineer of the Mamuvatu Electric Power Board had visited the Thames Valley area. The main reason of the visit, said Mr. Claxton, was because a report had been circulated in the Manawatu district that the Thajnes Valley fanners were taking out their motors on account of excessive charges. Mr. Claxton said he was able to report that these rumours were absolutely without foundation and that only one motor and not one light had been taken out owing to this cause. The Manawatu engineer, continued Mr. Claxton, had gone thoroughly into the conditions existing in the Thames Valley area and before de-
parting had said that the power boards of New Zealand owed a deep debt of gratitude to the Thames Valley Electric Power Board and if this board had failed it would have been a bad thing for the other power boards of the Dominion. Those remarks, concluded the chairman, were extremely gratifying to the board.
