RENOVATING HINTS.

When a large hole appears in a child's jersey, it is generally very difficult to mend it neatly. Darning answers very well for small holes, but with a large hole try the following plan, which has bceu successful: Moashnuld look quite well. When stockings become thin at the heels and toes, before the material breaks, run the weak places up ami down with fine darning thread, and the stockings will wear twice as long as they would do otherwise. When a bodkin is needed, but is not at hand, for running a ribbon in- a camisole or other garment, a small safety-piu attached to the end of the ribbon may be used as a substitute. Mend a slit in a raincoat by putting sure the hole, and knit a patch to fit

in the space. If the patch is well done and the same colour as the jersey, ifc a piece of adhesive plaster, rather larger than the slit, on the under sido of the garment.
