THE RUGBY GAME.

FIXTURES POSTPONED. Owing to the wet weather on Saturday the Putaruru Rugby Union postponed its fixtures for that day indefinitely.

THE MANAGEMENT COMMITTEE Last week’s meeting of the management committee of the Putaruru Rugby Union was attended by Messrs. J. Barr Brown (chairman), F. Phillips (executive), N. H. Ashfond (secretary), S. C. Snell (Refreees’ Association) and G. E. Martin (United). The referees complained of the state of the football grounds at Putaruru. It was resolved that any club not having its registered ground in order to the satisfaction of the referee should be held to have defaulted to the visiting team. Also, the secretary was deputed to have the post and wire barricades at the Putaruru grounds put in order. It was resolved to enforce the charge for admission to the matches.

On the recommendation of the referees it was decided to instruct t-he clubs not to use the match ball before a match or during the interval, as in wet weather it would become too sodden for the match play. Written advice was received confirming the Te Whetu club’s withdrawal from the competition. The chairman pointed out that this meant that the union reverted to the first draw for the competition. As a selector for the Waikato Union, Mr. W. C. Coote wrote that he wished to see some of the play at Putaruru and requested to be put in touch with the Putaruru Union’s selector, Mr. S. J. Parker. The secretary was asked to hand the letter •to Mr. Parker.

The secretary was instructed to write to the Waikato Union asking for payment of last season’s and this season’s allocation to the Putaruru Union for the encouragement of Rugby in the public schools, the chairman reporting that the Putaruru school was claiming the promised football which the union was providing out of such money for the winner of the school matches held in this district in the past seasons. He added that the headmaster of the Putaruru school was calling a conference of the representatives of each school in the district to arrange a schools competition this season.
