THAMES VALLEY POWER BOARD

THE APRIL MEETING. * The Thames Valley Electric Power met at Te Aroha on Tuesday, Trare being present:—Messrs. F. H. Claxton (chairman), F. E. Flatt, G. Howie, J. Eoblen, J. McConnick, J. W. Anderson, J. B. Thomas, F. M. Strange, C. A. Arthur, W. E. G. Willey and P. Grace. An apology was received on behalf of Mr. J. Price. REDUCTION OF CHARGE WANTED. The Rising Sun Goldmining Company, Ltd., wrote asking the board to consider a reduction of the lighting account, which totalled £423. No objection was offered to paying for current consumed, but during the past quarter the plant was working only a portion of the time. It was reported that the company had been informed that'~there could be no reduction in the charges. POWER FOR PATETONGA. Mr. D. Hunter, of Patetonga. wrote requesting, the hoard to consider the question of reticulating the Patetonga district- He was making a canvass of the district to ascertain the amount support available. - H was decided to thank Mr. Hunter for his offer and to inform him that tba board intended to send its own canvasser. PIAKO RIVER CROSSING. The hoard’s engineers submitted a plan showing the proposed 11,000-volt submarine crossing at Pipiroa in the bed of the Piako river at a point about two chains north of the Pipiroa wharf. :, POWER FOR WAIHI. The Waihi Borough Council forwarded a list of names of possible consumers of power. Including a number of names that were at present outside the proposed reticulation area, a total of 76 names were sup- * plied. It was decided that negotiations with the Waihi Borough Council he i«wle! t with the chairman, engineer and manager. BROKEN PIAKO RIVER CABLE. The board’s solicitors advised that they Had forwarded an account

amounting to £342 11s 5d to Messrs. Winstone, Ltd., owners of the scow Hero, which vessel fouled the electric cable at Ngatea on February 5, necessitating the board laying a new cable at Ngatea. ACCOUNTS. Accounts totalling £8719 5s 5d on the power fund and £13,072 9s lOd on the loan account were passed for payment. POWER FOR MOTUMAOHO. Mr. Thomas asked when the reticulation of the Thames-Waikato road between Morrinsville and Motumaoho would he commenced. The engineer, Mr. McLeod, stated that the poles were now coming to hand and work would be commenced very shortly. POWER FOR PUKETURUA. In response to a recent request from the Puketurua Development —S°a:rd it was decided to erect a line sfs far as Ml*. King’s farm, negotiations to proceed in the meantime regarding a possible extension as far as the Salvation Army farm. W AIHOtT-T APAP A. Mr. Anderson moved that a canvass be made of the road between Waihou and Tapapa. This was agreed to.
