WATER ON POWER POLES.
FIRE BRIGADES' DANGER. Warning by Power Board. On Sunday evening a short time ago the Morrinsville Fire Brigade received a call to a burning electric power pole, the wire on which had fused. The brigade played the hose upon the pole to extinguish the flames. This matter had been brought under the notice of the Thames Valley Electric Power Board, and at Tuesday’s meeting of the board the manager, Mr. E. Sprague, reported that a letter had been sent to all fire brigades in the Board’s district drawing their attention to the danger of allowing the fire hose to play upon the Board’s electric lines and apparatus unless specially instructed to do so by a responsible official of the board. “ Und'-r normal conditions,” the letters stated, “the Board’s lines are alive at a high potential and as nonobservance of the above caution might have fatal results, I shall be glad if you will bring the matter to the notice of each member of youi* brigade.”
