PUTARURU SCHOOL.
MEETING OF THE C OMMITTEE. Tne Annual Elections. The final meeting of the Putaruru School Committee for the past 12 months was held in the school on Monday evening. The members present were: Messrs. F. C. Barnett (chairman), H. C. Wheeler (secretary), F. C. Flyger, A. R. Vospcr, H. J. W. Scott, and E. Nicklin. From the domestic science and woodwork instructors, Matamata, very satisafetory reports were received on the work and conduct of the pupils last year from the Putaruru school. It was resolved that the secretary arrange with the headmaster that the school be dismissed at 3 p.m. on the following Wednesday to permit of continuation of the school picnic, cur'tailed from last Saturday. The secretary reported that the appeal for funds towards tlie cost of the wreaths from the committee and the school on the occasion of the death >f the late headmaster had resulted in £1 14s being received, and a further 6s would probably be forthcoming. The committeemen thereupon guaranteed the balance, £1 11s. The chairman reported that he understood the average attendance at the school for the past year had been 119. This meant that the school came within the category of those with an average attendance of under 120, and nominations for the position of members of the committee could therefore be made at the annual meeting of householders on April 14. The chairman thanked his fellowmembers, and especially the secretary, for the work they had done during the past 12 months. A special vote of thanks was accorded the secretary by resolution. The secretary was deputed to draw up a report on the past year’s work, to be submitted to the householders’ meeting. An account for 12s lid was passed for payment, and some minor repairs were authorised.
