HINUERA.
RATEPAYERS’ MEETING. A meeting* of the Hinuera Farmers’ and Ratepayers’ Association was held last week. It was decided to approach the Railway Department requesting that a responsible officer be sent to Hinuera in | order to make himself personally acquainted with the requirements of the ! residents iie railway station; also to 1“ complain to the district Traffic Man--1 ager, N.Z.R., with regard to the dam aged condition of goods received at the Hinuera station. It was resolved to write the Matairata county Council with regard to the condition of roads near railway crossings. As a result of their pau - city or entire lack of metal and the consequent mud in wet weather, drivers of motor cars experienced so much difficulty in negotiating the approaches that they were very apt- to be unaware of an oncoming engine. This was evidenced by a fatal accident near Matamata comparatively recently. Tt was decided to invite Mr. F. Lye M.P. for the Waikato, in whose constituency a large part of the district lies, to visit Hinuera and give an address. ELECTRICITY. A few evenings- prior to the poll, which carried the Thames Valley Electric Power Board’s additional loan proposals, a meeting, addressed by the Board’s representatives, was bold in Hinuera. At the conclusion of the same, questions having been answered to the 'satisfaction of all present, a vote of thanks was passed to * the chairman of the Board, Mr. Claxte n, and the Board wished every success. TENNIS DANCE. An enjoyable tennis dance was held on Thursday evening*. There were 1 about fifty couples present, the Bluebird orchestra accompanied the danc- * ers harmoniously, while extras were well played by Mrs. Wade. An enjoyable supper was provided by the club. Mr. W. Settle made an efficient M.C. "AT THE COURTS. The shrubs, planted a few months ago. at the Hinuera tennis courts are , * coming on well. The most recent ( improvement has been a large double I totara gate. PERSONAL. Mi*. G. Horan, officer in charge at Km Hinuera railway station, is at present off duty and is being relieved by Mr. W. T. Sullivan, of Auckland.
