Fat steers, £0 10s; Tat cows, £:’, 10 ' £5 ss; springing heifers, £2 10s to •• £5; store cows, £L to £2 10s; Jersey cross heifer calves, 15s to 355; Short- | horn heifer calves, 14s to 20s. Sheep: Fat ewes, 25s to 265; 2-tooth breed- 1 ing ewes, 23s Gd to 30s. Pigs: Porkers, 35s to £2 10s, weaners 5s to 20s. , MATAMATA. Dalgcty and Company, Ltd., held i their usual sale at Matamata on Wednesday. A good attendance of buyers and a fair yarding- resulted in some keen bidding. Prices were: — Cattle: Fat cows, £4 to £5 7s; stores, £L 10s to £2 10s; bulls, £1 !Os to £2; good grade Jersey heifer calves, £2 ss; Shorthorn heifer calves, 15s. Sheep: Forward-conditioned ewes, £1 0s 4d; forward-conditioned .wethers, £1 7s; fat lambs, £1 3s Gd. Pigs: Slips, 14s Gd to £1 4s; weaners, 10s to 14s Gd. HAMILTON. At the Farmers’ Auctioneering Co.’s Hamilton sale on Tuesday there was an average yarding of sheep and cattle, but pigs were not so well represented. Competition for beef was excellent throughout, best cows making Tom £5 11s to £7 7s; medium j weights £4 10s to £5 10s; light weights £4 to £4 15s. Other classes of store cattle also showed improvement; store cows made to 355; 18months steers medium quality £2 5s , to £2 10s. The demand for sheep was 1 .ilso good, values for fats being much above the late standard. Light wethers sold from 29s to 325; good ewes to 365; best lambs (forwardi 1 7r to 18s; medium store lambs (shorn) 13s to 15s; small 8s Gd to 10s Gd; breeding ewes made from 19s Gd to 22s 3d; cull ewes 9s. Competition for pigs was very strong, an advance all over being experienced. Best baconers made to £4 ss; medium . weights £3 5s to £3 12s Gd; porkers £2 | 10s to £2 17s Gd; light, £2 to £2 7s Gd; slips from 15s to £1; weaners 9s. WESTFIELD. At the Westfield sale on Wednesday there was an advance in the prices of beef. Sheep were short yarded and there was a sharp rise in prices. Lambs and calves sold at last week’s prices. Pigs showed a jr slight improvement in price. SHIPMENTS OF MEAT FROM SOUTH AMERICA. The New Zealand Meat Producers’ Board has received a cable from its representative at Buenos Aires, South’ America, advising the following .shipments to the United Kingdom for the fortnight ended the Bth inst. from Argentine only : chilled beef, 22,944 quarters frozen beef, 54,992 carcases frozen mutton, 44,058 carcases frozen lamb. The quantity shipped to the Continent of Europe during the same period totalled : frozen beef, 5720 carcases frozen mutton, 3G3 carcases frozen lamb.
