STRAYING STOCK.
CLEANING UP ROADS. The good etfcct of the joint employment of a ranger by the Matamata County Council and Town Board was demonstrated in the report of the ranger submitted to the Council’s meeting on Friday. Although visits had been made to practically every part of the county and town the inipoundings were fewer in number than has been the case for many months. The report was as follows—Visits: Ta Papa, 2; Putaruru, 5; Matamata, 4; Peria, Hinuera, Waiomou, Taumangi, Horahora, Lichfield, Waotu, Puketurua, Te Poi, one each. Stock impounded: At Tirau, 2 cattle from Tirau; 1 horse from Putaruru; 1 steer from Putaruru. One horse and 6 cattle were returned'to owners at Putaruru.
