WAOTU BEATS SELWYN. The replay of the match between Waotu and Selwyn in the second round of the Leggatt Shield competition took place at Putaruvu during the week-end. A very keen contest resulted, and it was witnessed by a large number of spectators, the weather being ideal. Waotu won by a margin of two wickets and two runs, Proctor, in Waotu’s second innings, v.Vn two rims were wanted to make Waotu the winners and one man was still in reserve, hitting a boundary for three. The match was concluded to the full number of wickets, however, the scores ending, Waotu GO runs, Selwyn 64, as follows: — SELWYN.—First Innings. C. E. Kollard, c G. Hansen, b

Dr. East (Putaruru) and Mr. J. O. Pettit (Te Whetu) acted as umpires, and their decisions gave full satisfaction. The gathering were the guests of the Putaruru club at afternoon tea the grounds. * FINAL NEXT WEEK-END. By winning this match Waotu are J 0B w equal with Selwyn for the shield for the season, and a final between the two will be played next week-end at Putaruru. SCHOOL BOYS’ MATCH. A cricket match between teams representing the Te Whetu school and the Putaruru school took place at Putaruru on Saturday.
