At the Farmers’ Auctioneering* Co.’s stock sale at Hamilton on Tuesday there was a good yarding of sheep and pigs but* only a moderate supply of cattle. The market for sheep in general was much weaker, competition lacking spirit. Although a number of lines were passed at auction most of these were dealt with successfully afterwards. Fat ewes made 22s 3d, two-tooth wethers 245, smaller sheep 225, medium lambs 10s to 10s 9d, small 6s to 6s lOd, f.f.m. ewes 18s. A line of young ewes but low in condition sold for 16s 6d, small two-tooth ewes 20s. The market for beef was fairly steady, values altering- little from the previous weelyj Steers made to £8 Bs, cows to £5 fc&gg forward sorts £2 15s to £3 10s, sJflflH cows £1 7s 6d to £2.
