A NEW POWER LINE.
. ARAPUNI TO ROTORUA, Survey in Hand. The power line which has been '•onstructcd from Horahora to Arapuni. is to be continued thence to Rotorua to connect with the Okcrc falls hydro-electric power scheme, which supplies Rotorua and which is at present overloaded, necessitating.he installation of an auxiliary plant in the form of Diesel crude oil engine.;: to take the overload meanwhile. Tlie new line will be a 50 ; 000-volt me and will follow a route from Ara■yuni to Lichfield, thence debouching on to the railway at Ngatira and following the railway to Rotorua. A survey party from Rotorua are ;it present surveying a route for the line. They -were originally camped at Arapuni, but- now having completed the first few miles of the survey they have shifted camp to the Pokaiwlienua stream, Waotu road, Putaruru. It is anticipated that the erection of the line will be started next spring and that it wili not only give Rotorua an augmented power supply but will also provide power for general use ill the 40 miles of territory en route.
