MOKAI.
The weather, which had been un-. pleasantly hot and sultry the last week, finally broke on Saturday night and rain fell steadily for some hours. It will be very beneficial, as pastures and turnip crops were suffering from the long spell of dry weather, while some of the householders were rather short of water for domestic, purposes. Several local enthusiasts have been doing good work in their spare time lately fixing up one of the mineral hot water baths about two miles out of Mokai. The result of their labour is now quit'- ;• pleasant bathing pool, which, is becoming increasingly popular. and bathers can regulate depth •.nil t< ' pcvalure of the water to suit then .selves. In • i ennis Oiub had arranged a handicap tournament for last weekend. but on account of the rain very few games were completed, and the remainder have been postponed for rei: favourable weather.
