TIRAU.
BOWLING MATCH. Last Thursday a team from Okauia representing the Crystal Springs club journeyed to Tirau and tried conclusions with r. local quartette. The heme team, who defeated the visitors by 25 to 16. consisted of Messrs. T. Little (skip), J. F. Eccleton, All. Henson and C. Hunt, and the Springs team was Messrs. W. O. Garland (skip), Bowler, Hisler and Simpson. Quite a number of visitors and residents witnessed the match, and these, along with the players, were the guests of Mr. F. Rose, the vicepresident of the club. During the afternoon refreshments were dispensed and thoroughly enjoyed. TENNIS TOURNAMENT. The Tirau Tennis Club held a club tournament on Boxing Day. The day was an ideal one and there were quite a number of visitors present from Matamata and other places. During the afternoon tea was handed round and altogether a very pleasant day was s »«nt. The results were as follow:—Winners of ladies’ doubles handicap. Mrs. Litchfield and Miss L. Carnahan: winners of gentlemen’s doubles. Messrs. T. Batlcv and J. Wright.
