ALLEGED THEFT.
DWELLING HOUSE ENTERED. Some lime between the afternoon cf New Year's Eve and the following' morning, the house of Mr. Dakin, a well-known Matamata resident’ and business man. was entered, and the sum of £lO abstracted from a drawer in one of ih • bedroom.'. The pockets, of some garments wore apparently also searched, but with fruitless results. The circumstances generally seemed to point to the offence having been committed by someone acquainted with th: premises. The matter was upon discovery, immediately reported to the Matamata police, and as a result a youth was accosted on Wednesday by Constable Heeps and questioned with regard to the offence. Tt is understood that an admission -has been made and the money refunded. The lad will appear before 'he court at Matamata on January 20.
