"WILTSDOWN.”
(To ihc Editor). Sir, —In Ih ' issue of the Putaruru Press of December 20 a report was given of the naming of Wiltsdown to this district. I noticed in your paper thut the m . e is spelt Wilts Downs instead of v . T iltsdown. The name Vviltsdo'vn w: s agreed upon by a majority of settlers at a meeting held recently after the name of my farm, At which has baen called Wiltsdown for over 15 years. The name Wilts Downs was never proposed or discussed, and is objectionable to some of the local settlers, as it is also to me. Would you kindly make known to the public in the next issue of the Putaruru Press that this district is named Wiltsdown and not "Wilts Downs.—l am, etc., W. G. ALEXANDER. [The term “ Wilts Downs ” was used in corrc mondencc received from the district, rnd this is how the error arose. We regret same and thank Mr Alexander for rectifying the matter. —Ed. Press].
