II A I'AM AT A. The Fanners' Auctioneering Co. held its usual sale at Matainata on Wednesday. There was a large yarding of all classes of stock. Many buyers were present and fair average prices were obtained. The sale lasted till late in the afternoon, practically everything being cleared. Prices wove as follow: — Beef Cattle.—Fat steers £8 to £10; lighter weights £7 4s; heavy fat cows £5 10s to £6 ss; fat cows £1 5s to £5; store cows £1 17s Gd to old and poor cows 10s to 255; store cows £4 12s to £5 is. Dairy Cattle.—Cows £5 to £7 15s; heifers £8 to £11; nice quality Jersey empty heifers £G 12s Gd to £8 10s; Jersey-cross, heifers £4 to £5 3s; Shorthorn heifers £3 to £3 14s; smaller sorts £1 las to £2 10*. There was another large yarding at the Fanners’ Auctioneering Co.’s stock sale at Morrms? idle on Friday, but very few dairy cows were sold. The prices all round were easier. Heavy fat steers at the company’s previous Morvinsville sale went up to £ls IGs, but on Friday the prices reached only £l2 15s, which was obtained by Mr. J. Bell, of Kiwitahi. I Though fat pigs were much easier | small pig-s sold very well, the lowest being* £l. The prices were:Beef: Heavy fat steers, £ll to £l2 15s; fat steers, £8 7s to £9 15s; fat cows, £5 to £6 12s, Gd; lighter sorts, £3 15s to £4 15s; store cows, 15s to I £1 10s. Bulls: Heavy bulls. £4' 5s to £5 ss; others, £l. 10s to £2 I.os. Dairy cattle: Heifers close to profit, £9 to £ll 10s: smaller or more backward sorts. £1 15s to £8; cows. £6 I.os to £9 os; empty Jersey heifers, £4 os to £5 10s; empty Shorthorn heifers, £2 to £3 ss. Sheep: Fat wethers, 35s Gd: fat ewes, 31s to 32s Gd; fat hoggets, 265. Pigs: Fat pigs, £3 6s; heavy beccnevs, £3 to £" Gs; heavyfat porkers, £2 3s to £2 17s; good slips, 25s to Sis; weaners, 20s to 255. HAMILTON.

At the Farmers’ Auctioneering Co.’s Hamilton sale on Tuesday there was a moderate yarding of sheep and cattle but pigs were again present in full supply. Fat sheep seemed to draw rather better competition and the whole of the entry was cleared. Shorn wethers made from 30s Gd to 355, forward hoggets 265, small store hoggets 20s 3d to 22s Gd. Beef again met ivith a dull reception, bidding beingslow and spiritless. Everything- was, however, cleared at aluction. Best steers made from £9 to £lO 10s, lighter weights £8 5s to £9, heavycows from £6 4s to £B, lighter weights £4 10s to £5 355, forward co-ws £3 2s Gil to £3 IGs, stove’cows from £1 to £2 2s Gd There was a fair entry of empty heifers, for yvhicli competition iras fair. Jersey-cross made to £3 15s, Shorthorn and Shorthorn-cross £2 5s to £2 15s. Dairy cattle were not plentiful, nor was the quality noteworthy. Cows made from £5 to £7. Pigs, which were yarded in full numbers, declined in value. Heavy- baconers made to £-1 os, light baconevs £2 {■2s Gd io £3 10s, porkers £2 to £2 10s. At the Westfield, sale on Wednesday prices for beef were equal to previous rates, but there was a decline in those for sheep. Pigs were easier.
