ACCESS TO ARAPUNI.
KOADING PROGRESS. The wet weather continues to hamper the work of providing a good new access road from Putaruru Arapuni. With their two motor-lor-ries Messrs. Hart and Brown harac already made dome progress with their contract for metalling the 21 miles and are taking full advantage of every fine spell to continue the job by working very long hours each day. j For the bridges on the completed new formation beyond, the ccinept and sand has been carte/1 out, and now awaits the advent of tlm constructional gang. For the metalling of this length with shingle from Mr. Allen Bent’s property, Puketuivjja, the Public Works Department lips, now a traction engine and ten trailers available. It is understood I:l|nt the engine can draw five of these trailers loaded, thus, with the i|en trailers, working in continuous relay. The trailers are specially constructed for metalling work, having hinged floors, which allow the lokd to be dumped in one operation where required.
With the formation of the finpl two miles of the road, Messrs. Rennie Bros, are making such progress as the weather permits.
