CHEESE PRODUCTION.

RIGGER OUTPUTS. The District’s Factories. The outputs of the Tokoroa and Puketurua cheese factories for the past season, 1922-23, both show substantial increases in comparison with their corresponding outputs for the previous season. In the case of Tokos.oa, 144 tons 2 cwt of cheese was made last season, as against 111 tons 1 cwt in the previous season, an increase of 33 tons t cwt or practically 30 p#r cunt. At Puketurua the figures were 101 V tons as against 66 tons, an increase of 35., tons, or approximately 53 per cent. Certainly these factories receive but a minor portion of the milk production of the whole of the Putaruru district, the major protion being sent away under home-separation for buttermaking, but these figures nevertheless are an indication that despite the reverses inflicted by the slump the district is still forging ahead at an appreciable rate.
